Pebblestream padded into camp with a fish dangling from his jaws. He had managed to catch a fish in the cold river. He set it on the fresh kill pile, and wearily entered the Warriors den for a rest in his warm nest.

Cherrypaw was dozing off by the apprentice den, clearly terribly bored. Her spirits raised as she noticed her mentor, Pebblestream padding into camp with a fish dangling from his jaws, which he then put on the fresh-kill pile. Smiling she got up and trotted after him, only to realise he was going into the warrior den to have a nap. "Pebblestream?! Hey, Pebblestream! Can't I do something, please? Can't you at least send me out to hunt or something like that?" she asked eagerly, hoping that he could hear her. She did not dare to enter the warriors den however, knowing it was forbidden for apprentices to enter.

*Pebblestream looked up. "Oh sure. Take another apprentice with you though, and remember to make sure they have permission from their mentor. Don't be out long, it's quite cold and we don't need a greencough outbreak." he meowed.*

Cherrypaw nodded firmly. "I will do that, Pebblestream." she said and smiled. She did not intend to go with any other apprentices however. She wanted to catch them by herself, not with the help of other apprentices. She didn't want to make him aware of her plans however, so she made her way over towards the apprentice den. Doing mischief was one of her greatest abilities, and she could easily grab the chance to do it now. With a smirk upon her face she entered the apprentice den and sat down in her nest.

"What're you doing?" Questioned a voice coated with sleep that belonged to the orange-furred apprentice not too far from the other.
A yawn soon followed the apprentices' inquiry, his jaws gaping open to accommodate the sleepy action. Equinoxpaw was currently curled up in his nest with his head lifted, having been awakened from his fitful sleep by Cherrypaw when her voice had drifted in to the apprentices den when she had eagerly questioned her mentor.
He flicked an ear while he waited for her answer, licking at one of his paws in boredom.

Cherrypaw twirled around and stared at Equinoxpaw for a while. "Shh, I'm going to sneak out of camp... Pebblestream said I should take another apprentice, though I'm not the cat who enjoys waiting for something to happen." she said with a soft smirk before she vanished out the entrance again. If Pebblestream happened to ask, she would say that she had learned that some other apprentice was already by the river, fishing with their mentor. Smirking she stalked off through the camp entrance and disappeared.

Walking for quite a while she finally arrived by the river, licking her lips hungrily as she saw the silver fishes swimming under the water. Crouching down she used the tactics she had learned from her mentor and made sure the fish could not see her. Then she striked, her paw hooking what probably was a fish. To her surprise, the fish was quite large and with a startled yowl she was pulled off the shore, splashing into the freezing water. As she already knew how to swim, she started heading for the shore rather quickly. She drifted downriver however, not beaing able to resist the stream. When she finally reached the shore she was shivering, realising that this probably weren't a good idea after all. Sneezing she began lapping at her fur, trying to brush it the wrong way to heat herself slightly.

Pebblesplash lapped her dark spotted pelt. She felt sluggish and slow today.

Cherrypaw, wet and cold decided it was no use to continue fishing unless she wanted a cold. Heading back home she crawled into the apprentice den, praying that she wouldn't be seen. There she curled up in her warm nest, her tail curling around her frozen paws as she tried to curl up as much as possible to stay warm.

Pebblestream stretched with a yawn and padded out of the warriors den. It was sunhigh, the clouds were clearing and the sun was breaking through them. "I think it's going to warm up today." he thought aloud.

Equinoxpaw had sighed, resigning himself to falling back asleep after Cherrypaw had left.
He didn't really dream, or at least, he couldn't remember any dreams if he had when he awoke to pawsteps flooding his eardrums once again.
"Hnn?" He rasped, opening his sleep-bleary eyes to focus on Cherrypaw's frozen form in her nest.
"Hey, Cherrypaw, you okay?" He asked, his voice once again coated with sleep - but not any less concerned. He blinked a few times to rid his eyes of their cloudiness, tensing his muscles in a stretch.
His voice was soft in the quiet den, trying not to wake any of the other sleeping apprentices.

Pebblesplash nodded at Pebblestream. "My thoughts exactly. And besides,the sun is warm and bright."

Cherrypaw froze and looked at Equinoxpaw. She hated admitting that it didn't go her way, though it didn't seem that she could wriggle out of this with any excuse. How would she manage to have gotten this wet without falling in the river? Her fur was already being whitened as the water froze and covered her orange and white body with frost. Slowly she opened her eyes and watched Equinoxpaw for a while. "I'm fine. I regret not fetching someone to join me at the river. I hooked a large fish and fell in." she muttered, shivering softly at the cold. Her paws had gone numb, so she placed them underneath her own body to attempt to warm them up again.

The ginger apprentice frowned once he heard her explanation, torn between padding over and helping the young cat warm up, or going and fetching their medicine cat for help.
He decided to shove himself to his paws and curl up around Cherrypaw in her nest without a second thought, his light orange fur rubbing against hers as he purred to try and add more friction. He couldn't just let her freeze to death. Besides, his mentor would have probably scolded him for letting a fellow apprentice shiver in the cold.
"Sorry," He muttered, embarrassment flooding his ears with warm blood. He just couldn't think of anything else to do that wouldn't require her getting in trouble.

Cherrypaw had closed her eyes again when Equinoxpaw came over to her side, and her eyes flew open. Glancing at him rather startled at first, though her gaze softened. "It's alright. Thanks." she whispered to him before she laid her head back down on her paws, figuring out that it warmed her more by doing so. She felt calmer with the warmth of Equinoxpaw right beside her, and eventually she was no longer cold. Her body managing to balance her temrature again the frost at the tips of her pelt gradually melted, and at the same time she drifted into a soft and light sleep.

The ginger apprentice sighed in relief once he'd felt Cherrypaw relax against his side as she fell into sleep. He was glad he was able to help, but still felt rather embarrassed. He hated how he found somethings awkward that other cats wouldn't; like keeping a fellow apprentice from freezing by supplying them with body heat for example.
Equinoxpaw settled his head atop her shoulders gently, flicking his ears back as he drifted off as well.

The peace and quiet that seemed to hang in the air comforted Cherrypaw, and she sighed softly as she slept. It was broken when she coughed several times however, though it fell silent again quickly afterwards. She didn't even bother to get up, right now she was exhausted and knew that sleep would help more. Either way, her paws felt like they where made of stone and she couldn't get up.

Pepperstream padded slowly from the Warrior's Den, giving her pelt a few quick licks, smoothing her fur out, before completely exiting the opening. She yawned widely, showing her pink tongue and sharp teeth. She had just woken up, having been out late last night on patrol. The tortie she-cat glanced behind her, obviously looking for someone. She wasn't disappointed - Her littermate Gingertuft bounded agilely out of the den, too, her ears flicking away sleepiness.

The light-hued tortoiseshell warrior meowed a greeting to Pepperstream. "Good morning, sis'," she flicked her tail over the darker she-cat's ear. "Have fun last night?" She only groaned sarcastically, making Gingertuft laugh. She hadn't had to go on patrol, like her sister; she'd gotten a full night's sleep. "Well, come on now, let's go and ask Wolfpelt what we can do."

Without waiting for an answer, she padded over to the deputy. "'Morning, Wolfpelt. Me and Pepperstream were wondering if we should go on patrol or something, or hunt," she smiled. "Of course, Pepperstream would probably rather sleep-" Pepperstream nodded enthusiastically- "but I can patrol."

Pepperstream noticed that Streampaw was looking for her, so she meowed something to Gingertuft and padded swiftly over to her. "Morning, Streampaw," she meowed. "Ready for some training today? I was thinking that we should train you how to hunt, but it's your choice - Do you want to patrol, battle train, or hunt?"

Cherrypaw awoke, not feeling very well. She sneezed once or twice and shrugged. She didn't get up though, knowing that Euinoxpaw still was right beside her and for the first time she noticed he had his head on her shoulder. Smiling softly she tried to hold back her sneezes, but ith little luck. In the end she silently slipped out from beside him and made sure he would not slap his head into the ground. Then she silently padded off to the RiverClan medicine den.
