PostSubject: Doth thy accept suggestions?   Sun Dec 21, 2014 5:14 pm

Alright, so. In my time of RPing I've come across a rather awesome way that I personally think works brilliantly... Now, let me explain it out to you in different bulks:

--- Increased pressure on leader & deputy RPers ---
The basics behind this is that I personally feel like the leader and deputy needs more to do. Right now they're kind of forced to wait for the staff to make up plots, which in turn makes it roll pretty slowly (in my mind). What we should do is make a main plot, and then allow the owners of the leaders and deputies to make up ideas for sideplots that can be lead alongside these. Whether it be natural disasters or cozy gatherings, something of some sort that makes people more active within their clan. I'm thinking a board could be created for each of these, and then they could be given a "role" sort of speaking. A colour, perhaps? I'm pretty sure you can put the colour to the standard member colour anyway, so it doesn't have to be a coloured username. Just set up a group for these two members, one for each clan (ThunderClan HR (high-rank), ShadowClan HR etc.) and make a board that can only be viewed by the representatives from each clan and the administrators.

This is to say, they have a bigger impact on what happens. The administrators still has to confirm/accept the plot, but the leader and deputy still has a say/vote in the matter. The medicine cat may also be part of the team, since they're pretty high-ranked as well.

This idea will be kind of crucial if the next suggestion I make is implemented, since it'll require more activity from the leader of the clan. Anyway, moving on:

--- Activity checks ---
Last time WL opened, we were struggling with inactivity. It's a sad issue, but we need to get something done with it. Some may be familiar with the dA groups that present a Warriors-based theme, where they require an activity check to be done every month or two. This is to rule out all the inactive members. If we do this, I suggest we make a clan-wide announcement/event that'll give them all a situation they have to draw or write a story for. It doesn't have to be high-quality or particularly long (if it's a story), just enough to let us know you still want your cat alive. Because honestly, if you don't care for your cat you won't do the check will you?

A badger raid, foxes attacking the nursery or a day of sharing tongues/relaxing, there's endless possibilities for events that could be used.

Personally I think it's a good idea. A new thread could be made for submitting them, one for each clan. I'd also suggest opening a thread where people can ask for excuses/extensions, depending on whether they're going to be away or not. It's important that people get the news of the check a month ahead, so they're not flabbergasted when an assignment is given.

This is to regulate the amount of cats in a clan. I also think that the staff needs to make such assignments for the leaders to complete as well, to make sure they're active too. If the leader is away the deputy has to inform about the check, if they're both gone a RP moderator has to get in there and do the job for them. In the end, if a leader/deputy fails to do their job they will be fired (dead) and a new cat will take their place.

--- Cat-cap ---
A small cap that limits the amount of cats each clan can have that are made from scratch. This will promote getting a rogue, and working through the process of being accepted. A cap will have to be given on how many cats can join in total as well. For this I suggest these numbers:

  • 25/30 clanborn cats
  • 5 rogues/outsiders

I haven't read into the new things implemented already, but a cap might have to be given for albinos, bi-coloured eyes, missing limbs etc. unless you're planning/have implemented these into the clawshards shop.

A limit of how many cats a user can have in each clan might be nice as well.

Just some suggestions for the time being. I do enjoy messing with the business that I no longer have anything to do with, but heh. Just thought I'd throw it out there in the hopes that it'll help you improve (if you enjoy the ideas I presented, that is).

I personally like the first idea and the idea of a character limit in each clan per person.

Those are all good ideas. On ChickenSmoothie there's probably hundreds of members who haven't logged on in years.

I like each idea. I think putting more stress on the higher positioned characters will be a great help. I also have a suggestion

The deputy has a job of making Hunting patrols and Border patrols I think every day the Deputy should be either on and assigning the roles inside the roleplay or like making a separate topic for each clan naming the patrols for every week and having the deputy go and change them.

Also to prevent some confusion I think we should make a topic page for each clan maybe even under accepted -insertclanname- bios like the list with mates and apprentices/mentors. Just an idea.

the only problem with the higher ranking cats suggestion is that most high ranked cats are played by staff members. :/

i love the idea of a character limit

Whoo, feedback on my suggestion! Lovin' it. ^^

samsamii1@: I think it might be difficult to make a new patrol every day, since members of the patrol are online at different points of the day and it'll thus be difficult to complete a day's worth of patrol right there and then. However, I think we could have activity checks where the deputy sends out patrols and perhaps a RP thread is made for it (the ones who participate are safe, if they don't they have to write/draw something instead).

squire@: Well, that doesn't really matter in my eyes... It'll make the owners more responsible for things, and if a staff member feels qualified for the task/have enough time to handle both then that's a choice they make. For future appointments on high-ranks I think we should hold auditions though. Everyone interested post an application sort of speaking, and the best applicants are drawn from there to gain a spot as a clan HR. That way we will (in theory) always end up with good, reliable people for the roles. <:

For the future HP characters, it's usually asked of members to PM a staff member of the new deputy/MCA of their choice where the staff member will determine if the owner of the character that is being chosen is active and meets all the HP requirements.

Then if the owner of said being chosen character, will get a PM from the owner of the current Leader/MC owner of that clan to see if they are interested in the position if they meet the site's HP requirements.

Seems logical. Still think it'd make more sense if people applicated with their own characters based on how much time they have, because after all they know that part best. After my beliefs this is a choice the staff should make, not the members (from what I understood you're currently running for nominations?).
